Ranikhet is a hill station and cantonment town in the Indian
state of Uttarakhand. At an altitude of 1829 meters above sea
level. Ranikhet gets its name, which mean Queen's meadow in
English, from a legend that an Indian queen visited the site
and built herself a palace here, though no palace currently
exists in the area. In 1869, the British established the
cantonment here and used the station as a retreat from the
heat of the Indian summer. Ranikhet is the home to the Kumaon
regiment. |
One can enjoy Himalayan view
virtually from any place in Ranikhet, and the view is
particularly spectacular from October till June. Ranikhet gets
snowfall during winter season, mainly in months of
December, January and February. It offers a vast diversity of
flora and fauna with vast forests of Pine and Deodar.
The
languages spoken are Hindi & English apart
from local language Kumaoni. The nearest Airport is in
Pant Nagar, (Rudrapur). Most Convenient Airport is
Delhi.

Center. Its at a height of 7000 feet offering the magnificent
view of the Himalayas. |

Shawl & Tweed Factory-Ranikhet :
KRC
maintains the factory. It is located inside an old church. Old
traditional weaving of cloth on handloom is still alive here.
The Australian Merino wool is knit into shawls with beautiful
ethnic patterns. The shawls and tweeds woven here are worth
buying. |
Ram Mandir Tarikhet :
It
is a developing township, on the way to Ram Nagar. Mahatma
Gandhi sojourned at Tarikhet for sometime. A hut commemorates
his visit to the spot.. |

can be seen towards east. The highest point in Ranikhet,
syahi devi temple (2345 m) is just 5 Kms further from Scott's Sitlakhet Homestay cottage- Sitlakhet (Ranikhet)
Cottage is
set-up at Devlikhan village deep in
pine forest in Kumaon hills and designed on Eco-Development Village Stay Principles,
used primarily by foreign students coming to India on cultural
study program.
Sitla Cottage- Sitlakhet Ranikhet is run in a village home with 06 Rooms, out of
which 03 Himalaya facing rooms on upper level are used for
guest stay and dining purpose, while 03 rooms at
lower level are used for staff, Kitchen and Store. Here you
can experience typical Himalayan village life with all its
interesting facets.
Apart from being a very
picturesque location, Sitlakhet Homestay can be used for adventure and

which 01 Room with 02 Bed, while other with 04 bedded
with proper bedding ensure a comfortable stay.
Residential tents :
Accommodation in American Dome
Tents along-with camp mattresses and sleeping bags ensure a
comfortable stay in the mountain.
Dining
area : The Middle Room ( between 02 Bed-Room) is
used as Dining Room apart from covered verandah facing
Himalaya with a wooden table and Chairs makes an
appetizing place to enjoy meals.
Toilet : 02 functional toilet
one with Indian style toilet seat and other with W/C toilets,
running water and toilet paper.
Bathroom : Bathroom with buckets is
available for guests. We request all our guest to
conserve and save water because water is scares and fetched by tankers from far-off.
Kitchen facilities
: A kitchen at lower level (Ground Floor) serves
Indian cuisine along with local delicacies- made to order.

Cottage is operated on Eco-Development Village Stay
